Full Description

Photos of pillar (supposed base of sundial) cut down, reported from the garden of this house. Side 1 column with masonic marks above, side 2 pillar with date 1778 above, side 3 Letters NR above a cut down horse with chains pulling ?.
Suggested that house was built in 1788 by Nathaniel Rose.
Also discovered during renovation is what is thought to be a gate post (no photos). Carved is a spiral pattern ending in a flower, most probably a rose - HAW 8/2003

NB Acre St was formerly Hay St. This house depicted on Wood's Map of 1828, set back from road frontage. - HAW 8/2003
