Full Description
Alcaig Manse (A S Henshall 1963). This cairn, of uncertain type, is overgrown and considerably robbed. It is c.55 ft. diam. With a now rather intermittent peristalith of heavy boulders of which one on SE segment has about 15 cups, one of these being 7" across and 2 ins deep. <1>
An illustration of the cup marked stone that forms part of the kerb of the chambered cairn was forwarded to the HER in November 2010. <2>
The chambered cairn was surveyed in April 2011 using plane tables by members of the North of Scotland Archaeological Society. The position of the cup marked stone is shown on the survey plan, linked to this record. <3> <4>
