Full Description
NM68SW 1 6124 8351.
(NM 6124 8351) There is vitrifaction on the top of an islet called Eilean Port na Muirach, a site with no space for a fort or garrison, but with an excellent view over the sea and thus probably used as a look-out and beacon (M'Hardy 1906).
Both Childe and Cotton report this as a vitrified fort. No plan or description of it has been traced (Cotton 1954).
A B M'Hardy 1906; V G Childe 1946; M A Cotton 1954.
There is no trace of any vitrifaction or structure on Eilean Port nam Muirach, a conical islet with an uneven summit measuring c.16.0m by c. 10.0m.
On the NE slopes are masses of small stones which look like tumble from a wall, when seen from a distance, but are in fact natural.
Visited by OS (N K B) 1 June 1970.
