Full Description
A large D-shaped enclosure, which contains an area of lazy-beds and what may be four turf huts, is situated on the W shore of Loch Raa. The enclosure, which measures about 200m across, is defined by an earthen bank. The lazy-beds occupy much of the interior and are aligned on an E to W axis. The huts are much reduced and are situated in a cluster towards the N of the enclosure (centred on NC 0122 1240). Morrison's Survey of 1775 (SRO, E746/189) depicts an irregular kidney-shaped enclosure at this location; usage is not defined, but it must have been either arable, meadow, grass or a shieling.
