Full Description

NG25NE 10.03 270 599.

Much of Ard Dubh is covered in ridging, predominantly lazy-beds to the N, which is enclosed by an arcuate bank. To the S in an area which approximately corresponds to the improved area on the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey map of 1880 (Island of Skye &c., Inverness-shire 1880, sheet ix), straight, shallow plough furrows appear to have slighted the lazy-beds that survive at the fringes of this later agriculture, which appears to be related to the Gillen crofts. Some blocking is visible in the lazy-beds.
Visited by RCAHMS (DCC) 17 November 1990.
