Full Description

On the N and NE of the Loch Airigh Gille-Pheadair there are two large enclosures or fields, some lazy-beds and a hut. The interior of the enclosure to the NE of the loch is occupied by lazy-beds, and the hut, which is situated in the midst of the lazy-beds, is built on the back of one of them. The hut measures 1.6m from NNE to SSW by 1.35m transversely within drystone-rubble walls 0.55m thick and up to 0.6m high with an entrance on the ESE. Peter May's survey of 1758 (SRO, RHP 85395) depicts an area with a building, which is annotated as 'A shealing', in the position occupied by the enclosure NE of the loch, but it is not depicted on Morrison's map of 1775 (SRO, E746/189).
