Full Description

A cooperage and curing yard lies to the rear of these Listed Buildings, built circa 1860.
Originally built and occupied by the magnates of the Pulteneytown herring boom the outhouses consisted of stables, cooperages and bothy accommodation for itinerant fish workers, usually women gutters. <1>

Photographs of the cooperage (later used as a stables - see MHG43827) to the rear of no 9 were submitted to the HER to comply with a condition on planning permission. <2>
