Full Description

NH67SW 28.1 611 741.

On S facing slope amid terraced gardens laid out by Edward White in 1910 - E Beaton, 1992, Ross & Cromarty.

Extensive park & gardens around the castle. Parkland probably heavily landscaped with extensive woodland, although the castle looks SE over terraces to more open spaces with more individual trees. Looks like the river also forms part of the design with woodland walks and a number of footbridges to facilitate this. The associated buildings are hidden within the trees. The stables, kennel, laundry & icehouse lie N of the castle. A large walled garden with associated buildings (internal & external) lies to the W at 260896 874265 and there is a graveyard to the SE of the castle. - HAW 10/2002

The large walled gardens W of the house are also in use, although internal buildings are series of external buildings outside are still used by staff. Rhodendron clearance is gradually taking place. A raised circular feature is visible in the woods to the W of the walled garden.
