Full Description

In the area centred at NN 701940, on the slope to the SE of Allt na Feithe Moire are the remains of the township of Phoines, according to the local farmer depopulated circa 1800. It comprises twelve buildings, varying in size from 30.0m x 4.5m to 8.0m x 3.0m, a corn drying kiln and three small enclosures. The remains vary from grass covered footings 0.3m high to earth and stone banks 0.7m high. To the west of the township and on the opposite bank of the stream there are large cleared areas of ground and traces of cultivation.
