Hilltrack. NC 82564 10784 to NC 83340 12506.
From C6 public road at Ascoile, a stony track, around 2.5m wide, extends northwards across level ground, before climbing up the hillside at the break of slope at the N edge of the flat river terrace at 282589 910997. From here it charts a winding course up the W side of Cnoc a’Ghrianan, parallel to Allt a’Mhuilinn to its W. At 282757 911586 it passes through an estate fence, from moderately sloping, reclaimed hillside to an open moorland plateau, eventually splitting at 283155 912293, with a branch leading down to the former hydro-electric scheme dam at 283159 912415, and the other part continuing at the existing level to a turning area at 283336 912510.
The track has, at various places along its length, drainage ditches running parallel with it, piped culverts placed underneath it, borrow pits beside it (used during its construction) and spoil heaps/embankments at the side of it. See Plates 13-15, 17 & 18.
