NH 5532 5571 to NH 5809 5842 An archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey were undertaken for a new water pipeline. The following previously unrecorded archaeological sites were revealed:
NH 5676 5720 Alcaig Smithy.
Full report deposited in Highland SMR and the NMRS.

A roofed smithy is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Cromartyshire and Nairnshire, Sheet LXXXVIII, 1881).
