28 August 1847. CANTON, 481 [gross tonnage]. Wrecked near Cape Abrath, crew drowned.

Rispond, (Loch Eriboll), 23rd Aug.. The bark CANTON, of Hull, bound to America, apparently in ballast, was totally wrecked at Farrouthead, near Cape Wrath, yesterday morning, during a heavy gale, and all on board perished.
