NLO: Wick Bay [name centred ND 376 506].
Commander John Tudor RN, Alec Campbell, George McKay, Alex Bremner, Allan McLeod, Alex Cormach, James Badge, David Brock, Donald McBrath, James Sinclair, Robert Geddes, Donald Campbell, Alex Forbes, Peter Hossack, widow of Alex Bain. Attempting by means of a lifeboat, manned by volunteers, to rescue the crew of the VROUW JUSTINA in Wick Bay during an awful gale on 9th September 1857, an act performed with extraordinary coolness and gallantry under circumstances of the most imminent peril. Alex Bain, one of the volunteers, was washed overboard and drowned. Tudor - silver medal. Remainder bronze medal and #2 each. Additional #1 each to A. Campbell, McKay and Bremner for volunteering to go off a second time. #20 to widow of Alex Bain. Awards by Board of Trade.
