Greenock, 27th Sept. 'The RAMBLER of Peterhead, Duncan, from Archangel to Wigton, ran on shore 23d instant, upon the Rudder Isles, in the Sound of Mull, fell over and bilged: cargo discharging.'

Oban, 1st Oct.. 'On the 23d ulto., the RAMBLER of Peterhead, Lunnan, from Archangel to the Solway Frith [Firth], struck upon a rock in the Sound of Mull, but after discharging part of her cargo was got off, and brought in here on the 26th in a leaky state.'

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably on account of her successful recovery.
The 'Rudder Isles' are presumably to be equated with the Eilean Rubha an Ridire, which form a major hazard to navigation on the northern side of the eastern entrance to the Sound.
