Full Description

NMRS Report: (24/06/2004)
NH53SW 50 52524 31211

The faced rubble footings of a hut (URQ97 11, NH 52597 31184) are situated amongst scrub woodland to the NE of Achtuie. It is subrectangular on plan and measures 3m from NW to SE by 2m internally and there is an entrance in the SW side. At least ten small cairns, the largest measuring about 4m in diameter and no more than 0.5m in height, are scattered across the hillside around the hut. Clumps of dense gorse may obscure further cairns and structures.
Some 265m WNW of the hut a rectangular platform (NH 52340 31250) has been dug into the hillside. The 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1875, sheet xxix) depicts two small roofed structures at this location, lying inside a small improved field; no trace of the field can now be seen.
