16 December 1882, GEORGE, 10 yrs old, not registered, wooden boat, unknown tonnage say 1, 2 crew, Master C. McKay, Owner G. McKay, Portnacou, Loch Eriboll, Sutherlandshire, departed Portnacou for fishing, in ballast, 2 lives lost, wind S.E.8, foundered, total loss, off Rispond, Loch Eriboll, Sutherlandshire. [Record received incomplete].
NMRS, MS/829/69 (no. 3295).
(Classified as wooden smack, in ballast: date of loss cited as 16 December 1882). This vessel foundered off Rispond, Loch Eriboll. Capt. MacKay.

Portnacou is not noted as such on the 1997 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map. It may be tentatively equated with Portnancon [name: NC 427 603].
