Wick, 31st Jan., 5.27 p.m., the EMILIE (schr.), Petersen, of and from Mandal, for this port, with barrel staves, has brought up under the lee of the breakwater: wind SSE, heavy sea: vessel riding well: had lost a man on the passage.

Wick, 3rd Feb., 11.30 a.m., the EMILIE, Petersen, from Mandal to this port, reported, 31st Jan., as brought up under the breakwater, came ashore this morning: engaged stripping vessel, which will become a wreck: materials and cargo may be saved: crew saved.

Wick, 8th Feb., the EMILIE, Pedersen, from Mandal, which was stranded here, 3rd Feb., has been brought into harbour, waterlogged.
Source: Shipping Intelligence, LL, No. 18,350, London, Tuesday February 11 [1873].

NMRS, MS/829/69 (no. 3936).

The cited location of stranding ('under the lee of the breakwater') suggests that this vessel was wrecked at or near the harbour entrance, rather than within the harbour itself. The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting that she was successfully recovered.
