Full Description

NMRS Report: (23/08/2004)
NH64NW 97 centred 5314 4516

A small military camp has been identified from postwar RAF vertical air photographs (58(A)421 Pt.3, 5162-5164, flown 21 June 1949) in the grounds of Bunchrew Estate. Around three large and twenty standard size Nissen huts with a further group of wooden huts can be seen on the photographs. The presence of the huts within the estate would suggest that Bunchrew was being used by the military during the Second World War.
The area occupied by the huts is now in use as Bunchrew Estate Caravan Park.
