Full Description

NMRS Report: (27/09/2004)
ND35SE 8080 c. 38 52
N58 27 W3 4

NLO: Staxigoe [name: ND 384 525]
Wick [name: ND 361 508]
Wick Bay [name centred ND 376 506].

Wick, 30th Nov., a vessel's nameboard, marked in gilt letters seven inches long "CARL-RUSE-----" (end broken off), has been washed ashore at Staxigoe.
Source: Shipping Intelligence, LL, No. 19,224, London, Friday December 3 1875.
NMRS, MS/829/70 (no. 4337).

The location, map sheet and quasi-administrative area assigned to this record are essentially arbitrary, being derived from the reported location of wreckage. The vessel presumably foundered out at sea, possibly beyond Scottish waters.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998).
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 27 September 2004.
