Full Description
NG23NW 2 2395 3732.
At NG 2395 3732, at the foot of the steep SE facing slopes of Ben Idrigill at 700ft OD, about 7 ruined shielings are scattered amongst the scree.
They are of the twin-cell type, constructed of stone, and are in a fair state of preservation. There may be other shielings at the W end of the site, but they are now merely heaps of stones.
Visited by OS (A S P) 12 May 1961; Visible on RAF air photographs CPE/Scot/UK/175: 1004-5.
Previously recorded at grid ref. NG 2395 3732, updated and corrected with information from Orbost Estate Survey (1998), M Wildgoose. Site no. 122, eight shielings were recorded.
