Applecross, March 24, a bottle came ashore at Sheeldaig [Shieldaig] on the 19th inst., containing a piece of writing paper on which the following was written: "Off the Shiant in the Minch schooner OCEAN ROVER of Port Col sinking fast God help us John Bulliler or Rusules master written on March 3, 1881".
Source: Bottle Picked Up, Shipping Intelligence, LL, No. 20,879, London, [Record received incomplete].
NMRS, MS/829/70 (no. 5161).

The map sheet and quasi-administrative area assigned to this record are arbitrary, being derived from the location of discovery of the bottle. It remains uncertain whether and where the vessel eventually foundered.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998).
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 29 December 2004.
