Full Description

NMRS Report: (13/01/2005)
NC23SE 8002 c. 26 33
N58 15 W4 58

NLO: Loch Glendhu [name centred NC 268 335]
Lochinver [name: NC 093 225].

Loch Inver [Lochinver], Aug. 9, 8.55 a.m., ULVA (s), of and from Leith, George Brown, on trial and pleasure trip, for west coast, ran on shore at Glendhue [Loch Glendhu] yesterday at noon.
Source: Shipping Intelligence, LL, No. 20,993, London, Wednesday August 10 [1881].
NMRS, MS/829/70 (no. 5188).

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery. The location of Glendhue cannot be established from the available map evidence, but is presumably to be equated with Loch Glendhu, a sea loch situated about 25km NE of Lochinver.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 13 January 2005.
