Full Description

NMRS Report: (12/04/2007 09:12:56)
NG41SW 8011 unlocated

ARIEL, screw yacht, belonging to Mr. H. MacIntyre of Paisley, drove ashore on the rocks at Isle of Skye, in the gale of Oct. 1, and would probably be a total wreck: no lives lost. (Glasgow, Oct. 9).
Source: Shipping Intelligence, LL, No. 21,358, London, Thursday October 12 [1882].
NMRS, MS/829/70 (no. 5385).

The map sheet assigned to this record is entirely arbitrary; it remains uncertain on which side of the island the stranding occurred.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting her successful recovery.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 3 February 2005.
