This disused gravel-pit is dug into the foot of a W-facing slope immediately E of the Lybster to Watten public road, some 320m SW of the Loch of Camster. Roughly oval on plan, the pit is partly water-logged and measures 10m from N to S by 7m transversely and 2.3m in depth. The S end of this pit corresponds with the N end of a pit depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1907, sheet xxix).
