ND24SE 62 26234 43595
This disused gravel-pit is situated immediately E of the Lybster to Watten public road, some 420m SW of the Loch of Camster. Roughly rectangular on plan, the pit measures 21m from NNW to SSE by 16m transversely and is dug into the foot of the W-facing slope to a depth of 5m. On the W, spoil has been spread and levelled between the pit and the ditch running parallel with the road. The pit is depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1907, sheet xxix).
