This disused gravel-pit is situated immediately E of the Lybster to Watten public road, about 95m W of the N end of the Loch of Camster. Roughly oval on plan, the pit measures 14m from N to S by 6.5m transversely and up to 1.4m in depth. Spoil from the roadside ditch has been cast over its floor. The pit is depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix).
