This disused gravel-pit is situated immediately E of the Lybster to Watten public road, about 560m N of the Loch of Camster. Roughly subrectangular on plan, the shallow pit measures 8m from ESE to WNW by 4m transversely, and is situated immediately S of a trackway that leads out onto the open moor to the E. Two plastic pipes drain water into the pit from the N.
Two small gravel-pits, which are depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1907, sheet xxix) about 10m to the SSW and 15m to the NNW respectively are no longer visible.
