Nothing is now visible of a 'pile of sods', which is depicted here on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix). The site of the pile lies on a gentle, W-facing slope in peaty, heather moorland. It is not shown on the 2nd edition of the map (1907, sheet xxix).
