ND34NE 42 ND 35093 45738
This farmstead, which is situated in an area of peaty moorland, comprises a range containing a two-compartmented dwelling at its WNW end and a byre. The dwelling has an entrance in its SSW side, and its WNW compartment has a fireplace in its WNW gable and a window in its SSW side. A doorway at the SSW end of the partition wall links it to the ESE compartment, which has a fireplace in the shared partition on the WNW. The dwelling is linked to the byre by a doorway at the SSW end of the mid-gable, and there is an external entrance to the byre in its SSW wall.
The range is depicted roofed on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1876, sheet xxx; 1907, sheet xxx), and this farmstead may be one of those collectively described under the name Iresgoe in the Ordnance Survey Name Book (Caithness No. 13, p. 287). It records `Four Crofter's dwellings in the vicinity of the Goe or Creek from which they derive their name; occupied by James Falconer and others, the property of Mrs B Innes, Thrumster'.
