This disused quarry, which is situated about 100m E of Melbourne Cottage farmsteading (ND34SW 183), is marked by a craggy exposure of bedrock in an E-facing rise. Now largely grass-grown, the exposure measures 11.5m from N to S and 0.6m in height. The quarry is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix).
