Full Description

NMRS Report: (09/11/2005)
ND34SW 216 33760 44727

This disused well is situated at the foot of a gentle SW-facing slope in an area of rough pasture 95m NE of the abandoned farmsteading ND34SW 213. Rectangular on plan, the well is enclosed on all sides except the SW by a drystone wall and measures 0.8m from NE to SW by 0.5m transversely and 0.5m in depth. A single slab, which now lies tilted within the well indicates that the whole structure was probably once capped with stones.
The well is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix).
