This disused quarry is situated in rough pasture 130m SW of the ruins of Brownaban farmsteading (ND34SW 114). Roughly oval on plan, it measures 13.5m from NNW to SSE by up to 5m transversely and it has been dug into the ENE face of a rock outcrop to a depth of 1.5m. Several large blocks at the S end of the quarry have probably been prized from the face. The quarry is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix).
