Full Description

NMRS Report: (09/11/2005)
ND34SW 253 31856 44866

This disused quarry is situated at the edge of a field of rough pasture immediately SE of Raggra farmsteading (ND34SW 291). Irregular on plan, it measures about 79m from NE to SW by up to 30m transversely and it has been dug into the S-facing slope to a depth of 2m. Largely grass-grown, the interior now contains several items of old farm machinery. The quarry is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix), but it is annotated `Old Quarry' on the later map.
