This grass-grown mound of soil and small stones is situated in the corner of a field of improved pasture about 160m SW of the former station master¿s house at Ulbster Station (ND34SW 268). Irregular on plan but with a flat top, it measures a maximum of 23m from N to S by 21.5m transversely and ranges from 1.5m in height on the SW to 0.5m on the NW. The mound may be spoil from the construction of the Wick to Lybster light railway, or from a quarry situated about 60m to the SE (ND34SW 351).
