Full Description

NMRS Report: (18/05/2006)
ND34SW 351 ND 31792 40536

This disused quarry, which is situated about 150m NNW of Smithy Cottage, was almost totally filled in several years ago when the adjacent scrap yard was extended, and only a small part of its E lip, measuring about 7m in length and up to 2m in height, is now visible. The quarry is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix), which show it as a broad excavation, dug into a S-facing slope.
