ND34SW 386 ND 31220 40791 & ND 31210 40766
Two disused quarries are situated in moorland 65m and 95m SW respectively of the remains of Face of Lochs farmstead (ND34SW 111). The NE quarry (YARROWS04 331) lies on an E-facing slope and comprises two conjoined pits measuring overall 18m from N to S by 9m transversely and up to 1.5m in depth on the NW. The interior is grass-grown. The SW quarry (YARROWS04 332), which is completely heather-grown, lies on a SE-facing slope and measures 8m from WNW to ESE by 5m transversely and up to 2m in depth on the WNW. There is a heap of upcast at the ESE end and there are several small boulders in the interior. On the NE, the digging of the quarry appears to have partly destroyed a wall that runs past that side. The quarries are not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix).
