Full Description

NMRS Report: (23/05/2006 12:21:05)
ND34SW 405 31326 41540

The remains of a cairn are visible on a low knoll some 80m to the NNE of the northern entrance to the Garrywhin fort (ND34SW 3). The cairn is now little more than a thin scatter of stones measuring about 6.8m in diameter, but at its centre there is a cist with what is probably its capstone lying immediately to the N. The cist measures at least 0.95m from ESE to WNW by 0.6m transversely and 0.1m in depth, but only the vertical slabs forming the ESE end and the SSW side can now be seen. The capstone is a slab measuring 1.17m by 1.15m and 0.08m in thickness.
