Full Description

NMRS Report: (23/05/2006 14:17:49)
ND34SW 424 ND 32674 43126

This disused quarry extends along the W side of the A99(T) public road immediately N of the house called Craigmuir. Essentially a simple cut into the E-facing slope up to 2.5m deep, it measures about 92m in length and probably provided stone for the adjacent road. The S end of the quarry is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1876, sheet xxix), but it was omitted from the 2nd edition of the map (1907, sheet xxxix).
