This disused quarry is situated in a field of rough pasture 340m SE of Upper Thrumster farmsteading (ND 34354 45979). Irregular on plan, it measures about 14m from NW to SE by a maximum of 10.5m transversely and up to 1.5m in depth at its SE end. The quarry is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1876, sheet xxx; 1907, sheet xxx).
