All that is now visible of this recently filled in quarry is a poorly-vegetated patch of ground in the NE corner of a small field of improved pasture immediately W of Thrumster Mains farmsteading. The quarry is depicted as a water-filled pit on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix) and is annotated `Old Quarry' on the 2nd edition of the map (1907, sheet xxix).
