This well-head, which has been dug into a scarp, measures 1.8m from NW to SE by 0.8m transversely within coursed rubble walls 0.5m in thickness and 1.5m in height. It is roofed with a single rectangular flagstone, and the open SE side, which is presently covered by a sheet of corrugated iron, provides an outflow into a drain to carry away the excess water. The well is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; Caithness 1907, sheet xxix).
