Full Description

NMRS Report: (24/04/2006)
ND34SW 311.08 33919 43068

This enclosure is situated on the E side of the airfield complex, in a field of rough pasture adjacent to the W side of the Thrumster to Mains of Ulbster road. Roughly rectangular on plan, it measures 16.5m from ESE to WNW by 11m transversely over a ditch up to 4.5m in breadth and 0.5m in depth. Like the adjacent enclosures to the SSW (see ND34SW 311.07) the function of this enclosure is not known, but vertical aerial photographs taken on 6 February 1941 (NLA 1, 24-25) show upstanding features here, perhaps replicating the buildings and hangars at the corresponding position at Wick.
