Full Description

NMRS Report: (24/05/2006 10:27:37)
ND34SW 478 ND 30298 42384

This boundary stone comprises a single block of local sandstone that has been set into the top a low cairn measuring 1m in diameter. The stone measures 0.4m in breadth from N to S by 0.2m in thickness and it rises to a height of 0.6m above the cairn. The stone is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix), and it does not lie on the Wick/Latheron parish boundary. However, local tradition suggests that another stone nearby (ND34SW 152) was erected in the 19th century by Thrumster estate to mark its boundary, and it is possible that this stone served the same purpose.
