NMRS, MS/829/71 (no. 6802).

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary and the equation of Loch Shell with Loch Shiel is essentially tentative. The restricted access to the loch at Shiel Bridge [name: NM 667 689] strongly suggests that the vessel stranded within the adjacent area of open water (possibly around NM 65 72) rather than within the loch itself.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 20 May 2005.
