Sound of Mull [name centred NM 58 46].
Tobermory, 18th Jan. The DUART CASTLE (a small smack), drove out of this harbour, with no one on board, went on Morven shore, and is expected to become a wreck.

(Classified as smack: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as 17 January 1858). Douart [Duart?] Castle: this vessel was wrecked on the Morven [Morven] shore, opposite Tobermory.
Registration: Campbeltown. Built 1840. 21 tons burthern. Length: 11m. Beam: 4m.

The location assigned to this loss is essentially tentative. The vessel was presumably not recovered.
The date and spelling of the name assigned by Whittaker remain unverified.
