A roofed building is marked as a smithy on the 1st edition OS map of 1880, as well as the 2nd edition of 1907. It is marked as a roofed building on the OS 1:10,000 1996 map, but is not named. The roofed building can be seen on an aerial photograph of 1969. Site recorded as part of an archaeological desktop survey for the Resolis Water Mains Renewal Project.
