Full Description

NMRS Report: (23/09/2005)
NM67SE 31 6633 7135

An enclosure was recorded here during a field survey of part of Loch Shiel Estate. It measures 160m E-W by 70m N-S, and is roughly trapezoidal in plan. It has coursed stone masonry walls at the W, S and E sides, 0.5m wide andd 0.9m tall. A wire fence, with iron stanchions, originally stood on top of the wall. The stanchions, drilled into the wall, are still present. Theh enclosure contains mature coniferous trees and may have been built as a woodland enclosure, some time before 1872 (it is not marked on the 1872-3 OS 1st edition map).
