Full Description

NG32NW 4 344 254.

NG 344 254. On a sloping shelf below steep slopes in Glen Caladale, at a height of approx. 850' OD, is a group of about 20 ruined shielings.
They are contained within an old enclosure measuring approx. 200.0m N-S and 150.0m transversely with the main concentrations in the N and E. These show as large turf mounds, with some stone evident, extensively burrowed by rabbits and hardly recognizable as shielings but for the occasional specimen with a typical depression in the top. Elsewhere in the enclosure are a few single-cell shielings showing as small turf rings. (Visible on RAF air photographs CPE/Scot/UK/274: 4055-6)
General condition: poor.
Visited by OS (C F W) 7 June 1961.
