Full Description

NMRS Report: (08/11/2005)
NG53SE 32 5537 3489 (centred)

At the foot of a rocky, scree-covered slope, a rectangular building was recorded during a field survey of the Suisnish area of Raasay by ACFA, who have conducted surveys on the island every year since 1995. The building measures 9.5m x 3.5m internally and the 0.65m thick walls are doubled faced with a rubble infill. The walls stand to their full height and the gabled end walls are also intact and measure 3.5m and 3m in height. The west wall has 2 doorways, both 1.2m wide, and two small windows, which have been blocked up. Inside, the NW section of the structure has stone paved flooring. An area outside the building has also been paved. It is thought the building housed animals, partly at least.
