Full Description

NMRS Report: (14/11/2005)
NG53NE 161 5865 3564

The remains of a house or building, 10.8m x 4m internally, were recorded here during a field survey of the Suisnish area of Raasay by ACFA, who have conducted surveys on the island every year since 1995. The drystone walls stand to a maximum height of 1.2m and are 0.9m thick. The W wall has been built into a field dyke. The corners of the building are rounded and it stands on a platform or possibly the remains of an earlier structure. The E wall has an entrance 0.8m wide and there is evidence for an internal division towards the N end. There is a stone and earth bank enclosure around the building, 9m x 4m.
